As robbers kill one, Plateau police return N5.9 million.

Armed robbers targeted motorists along the Fuskan Mama Jengre route in the state on Wednesday, according to the Plateau State Police Command, who claimed to have recovered more than N5.9 million.

One of the travelers who was shot by the criminals during the robbery operation was taken to the hospital in Jos but passed away a short time later, according to information received.

The event occurred on May 22, 2022, according to Alabo Alfred, spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, who verified the victim's death in a statement on Wednesday.

According to him, on July 4, 2022, the family of Mr. John Okeke of 74B, Rukuba Road, Bassa Local Government Area of the state received the sum of N5, 927, 120.00 back from the Plateau State Command Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew Onyeka psc (+), in keeping with his mission of policing with the fear of God.

"The tragic occurrence occurred on May 22, 2022, when the Jengre Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call about a robbery that was happening along the Fuskan mama Jengre route.

While other officers rushed one of the victims, Mrs. Laraba Ibrahim, to the Plateau Specialist Hospital, Jos, for medical attention, the doctor there confirmed she died on arrival as a result of a gunshot wound she sustained during the attack. The Divisional Police Officer, SP Alobo John, quickly mobilized his patrol team, raced to the scene, rescued the victim, cleared the road right away, and restored normalcy to the area.

The DPO and his team responded quickly and effectively, which caused the cowardly robbers to flee. As a result, other victims who had fled into a nearby bush were saved from their unlawful deeds. John Okeke's money, which was in transit from the Saminaka Kaduna State Plateau, was also found at that time.

The police have issued a stern and serious warning to criminals within the state to either repent from their wicked ways or leave Plateau State or be prepared to face the full force of the law, according to the statement, which also urged all residents of the state to continue providing timely information to the police and other security agencies to help them fight crime and criminality within the state.

"The CP cautions the public to go about their lawful business as the command will not relent in its fight against crime and criminality, and will continue to guarantee that Plateau State is secure for everybody," reads the statement from the command.
